KENYA SAFARI

DAY 1 - NAIROBI

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met and assisted by Travel Associates Representative then transferred to the Panafric Hotelor similar.

DAY 2 - NAIROBI - SWEETWATERS

After breakfast you will check out from your hotel and depart for the Sweetwaters.

Arrive and check-in then have lunch at your Camp.

 

Proceed on your first afternoon game drive in the sanctuary.

 

Return to the Camp before sunset for dinner and overnight stay at the Sweetwaters Tented Camp or similar.

 

Most wild animals in sweetwaters sanctuary are tame. You get to be photographed with a tamed rhino and even touch it. You also get to encounter your closest relatives the chimpanzee as they do their activities which are more human than wild among other animals. 

DAY 3 - SWEETWATERS - SAMBURU

After breakfast you will depart to the Samburu Game Reserve via the small town of Isiolo.

Arrive and check-in then have lunch at your Lodge.

 

Proceed on your first afternoon game drive in the reserve.

 

Return to the lodge before sunset for dinner and overnight stay at the Samburu Sopa Lodge or similar to the North of lush Mount woodland and rugged ranges that average only 14” (350mm) of rain a year.

Samburu Game Reserve (40,800 acres/16,500 hectares) flows the Uaso Nyiro River, rimmed with towering river acacias and palms.

The river and several springs attract much wildlife, especially in dry periods. Mammals restricted to the Masai arid zone are found here, such as Gravy’s zebra, the reticulated giraffe, the beisa Oryx, Guenther’s dik-dik and the gerenuk. Also present are lesser kidus, elephants, grant’s gazelles, lions, cheetahs, leopards and 350 bird species, including the blue-flushed Somali ostrich and the bristle-crowned starling.

DAY 4 - SAMBURU - MOUNT KENYA

After breakfast at your lodge we travel south and to Mount Kenya region.

Upon arrival you will check in your lodge and later have lunch.

 

Afterwards observe game as they come to the lodge’s flood-lit waterhole to drink water.

 

Dinner and overnight stay at the Serena Mountain Lodge or similar.

DAY 5 - MOUNT KENYA - LAKE NAKURU

After breakfast at the lodge, proceed to Lake Nakuru National Park situated in the Rift Valley Region.

From the North to the South of Kenya the valley is lined with a series of freshwater and soda based volcanic lakes.

 

Arrive, check-in your Lodge and have lunch. Go on a game drive later in the evening.

 

Dinner and overnight stay at the Lake Nakuru Lodge or similar. 

Lake Nakuru the worlds famous haunt for pink flamingoes is a shallow alkaline lake in Kenya’s Rift Valley and some 62 km2 in size. The landscape is picturesque, area of marsh and grassland alternating with rocky cliffs and outcrop also home to both the White and Black Rhinos. Lions, leopards, hippos, giraffes, waterbucks are equally at home in this unique park.

DAY 6 - LAKE NAKURU - MASAI MARA

After breakfast, depart for the world famous Masai Mara National Reserve.

 

Arrive at your Lodge for check-in and lunch.

The lodge blends in perfectly with its surrounding hillside landscape. The accent here is on the Masai people and the wealth of wildlife, birdlife, and natural flora to be found in the fabled Masai Mara Game Reserve.

 

Enjoy an afternoon game drive around the world famous Mara.

 

Dinner and overnight stay at the Mara Sopa Lodge or similar. 

Masai Mara offers an absolutely unique variety of animals. The reason is that this hilly region is both humid and fertile, and is crossed by the Mara and Talek rivers, full of crocodiles and hippos. The abundance of water and excellent availability of food are the reasons why the Masai Mara, which in fact is a continuation of the Tanzanian Serengeti National Park, has the greatest population of wild animals in the whole of Africa. There is a particularly dramatic “spectacle” from July to November, the annual migration of huge herds of Gnus and zebras. Predators such as Hyenas, Jackals, Leopards and Lions of course, closely follow these herds. Gigantic herds of over 200 buffaloes can also be observed. Plenty of food is available for elephants, giraffes, and the many species of antelopes. 

DAY 7 - MASAI MARA - LAKE NAIVASHA

After breakfast at the lodge proceed to Lake Naivasha, Arrival and check-in at your lodge then have lunch.

 

Lake Naivasha is a beautiful fresh water lake, fringed by pink papyrus. Much of the lake is surrounded by forests of the yellow barked Acacia Xanthophlea, known as the yellow fever tree because of the color. This forest abounds with bird life, and Naivasha is known as a world class birding destination. The water of the lake draws a great range of game to these shores. Giraffes wander among the acacia, Buffaloes wallow in the swamps and Colobus monkeys call from the treetops while the lakes’ large hippo population sleeps the day out in the shallows.

 

The afternoon is at leisure.

Dinner and overnight stay at the Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge or similar.

DAY 8 - LAKE NAIVASHA - AMBOSELI

After breakfast drive through the rugged landscape of the Kenyan plains to the Amboseli National Park situated in the north at the foot hills of Mont Kilimanjaro (19430ft) the highest Mountain in Africa.

Amboseli is famous for its vast herds of elephants and stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro.

 

Be sure to have your camera ready this afternoon game drive in search of elephants, giraffes, buffaloes and much more and lunch will be served at the lodge.

 

Dinner and overnight stay at the Amboseli Sopa Lodge or similar.

DAY 9 - AMBOSELI - NAIROBI - DEPARTURE

Have breakfast at the lodge and depart for Nairobi.

Kenyans most colorful Capital city, from here you will be transferred to the Airport for your onward flight.

(For those who would like to spend an extra night in Nairobi, you will be transferred to your hotel where you will spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure followed by your overnight at the Panafric Hotel or similar – special extra-night travel agent rate available from ITS TOURS).

DAY 10 - NAIROBI - DEPARTURE

After breakfast you will check out from your hotel and depart to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your onward flight.
