SPLENDOURS OF GRECCE
Day 1 - ARRIVAL
Assemble at the airport for your flight to Athens.
Meet at Athens airport and transfer to the restaurant for a traditional Greek breakfast.
We will start a half-day tour to explore Athens which is an amazing city to discover
- Syntagma Square,
- the House of Parliament, the Memorial to the Unknown Soldier,
- the Athens Academy, the University,
- the National Library,
- the Hadrian’s Arch.
Pass by the Temple of Olympian Zeus and visit the Panathenaic Stadium where the first Olympic Games of the modern era were held in 1896.
Lunch and dinner will be provided. Return to hotel.
Overnight in Athens Hotel.
Day 2 - HALF DAY ATHENS SIGHTSEEING
Breakfast in the hotel.
Pickup from the hotel for your morning tour to enjoy one of the world’s wonders Acropolis visit the architectural masterpieces of the Golden Age of Athens:
- the Propylaea
- the Temple of Athena Nike,
- the Erechtheion and finally “the harmony between material and spirit”,
- the Parthenon.
Continue and visit the place where at last the statues found their home and admire the wonders of the classical era, the Museum of Acropolis.
At the end of the tour, drop off at the hotel or at the city centre.
Afternoon we can enjoy Plaka the old part of Athens with its numerous
shops and taverns.
Rest of the day at own leisure.
Dinner. Overnight in Athens Hotel.
Day 3 - ATHENS - ARGOLIS (CORINTH CANAL, EPIDAURUS, MYCENAE)
Breakfast in the hotel.
Pickup from the hotel for your 4th day Classical tour with Nafplion.
Depart Athens and stop to see the Corinth Canal.
Drive onto and visit the ancient theatre of Epidaurus famous for its acoustics and one of the most preserved ancient amphitheatre.
Depart at noon time for Mycenae.
Visit the archaeological site and the Royal Tomb of Agamemnon (The leader of the
Troy War).
Return to Athens.
Optional dinner in a traditional Greek restaurant in the old part of Athens – Plaka.
Overnight in Athens hotel.
Day 4 - ATHENS - DELPHI - METEORA
Breakfast in the hotel.
Then we continued driving toward Delphi.
Visit the archaeological site of Delphi on the slopes of Mount Parnassus.
See the Sanctuary of Apollo Pythios, Castalia Spring, and the museum.
Lunch.
In the afternoon leave Delphi for an interesting trip through Central
Greece to Kalambaka (Meteora).
Accommodation in a hotel. Dinner in the hotel.
Overnight in Kalambaka (Meteora) hotel.
Day 5 - KALAMBAKA (METEORA)
Breakfast in the hotel.
Visit Meteora with its impressive scenery, and ageless monasteries, suspended between earth and sky. Inside, see priceless historical and religious treasures.
Visit the factory for the production of icons and learn the way they are made. Shopping for souvenirs.
Free time.
Overnight in Kalambaka hotel.
Day 6 - KALAMBAKA - IGUMENICA - CORFU ISLAND
Breakfast in the hotel.
Then we continue driving to Egnatia odos the famous old Merchant road that in ancient times was connecting Venice and Istanbul.
We will arrive at one of the biggest ports in Greece Igumenitca.
We will board a ferry to one of the most famous islands in the Ionian group of islands Kerkira – Corfu.
After arrival, we had a tour of the city that reminded us and more buildings that remain in Venice than any other Greek city.
We will see the old fortress, centre, Liston, the Church of St. Spiridon the protector of the island that even after so many centuries, is
still whole.
Free time to enjoy and explore Corfu City.
Overnight in Corfu.
Day 7 - CORFU - PLAEOKASTRICA
Breakfast in the hotel.
After breakfast, we will drive toward the northern part of the island where we will visit the Monastery of Virgin Mary Paleokstrica and enjoy the view of the 7 colours of blue that the Ionian Sea has.
Free time.
After we will visit the factory that produces a special liquor Kum Koat a fruit that grows only in the island of Corfu.
Return to city.
Overnight in Corfu.
Day 8 - CORFU - IGUMENICA - VERGINA - THESSALONIKI
After breakfast in the hotel, we go to Corfu port to take a ferry to cross to the mainland.
Continue our trip towards Vergina were is considered to be the grave of Phillip II the father of Alexander the Great.
Visit the museum. Continue toward Thessaloniki.
Accommodation and overnight Thessaloniki hotel.
Day 9 - THESSALONIKI - PELLA - EDESSA
After breakfast in the hotel, we will visit the birthplace of Alexander the famous Pella.
We will visit the museum and also the archaeological site to see the remains that were excavated from ancient Pella.
After we will continue to the city of Edessa to see the famous waterfalls.
Free time.
Return to Thessaloniki.
Overnight in a hotel in Thessaloniki.
Day 10 - DEPARTURE
Breakfast in the hotel.
Transfer to Thessaloniki airport for flight back home.
